Basic Operating Principles and Philosophies
Rick Wardlow formed the company in 1998. At that time he set forth four simple, fundamental principles to serve as the foundation for building and operating Wardlow Auctions Inc. Those principles are:
- Conduct every auction in a legal, ethical and professional manner, with no exceptions.
- Conduct every auction as if it were a job interview for a future auction.
- Always put your client’s objectives and needs first in guiding your decisions.
- From the standpoint of advertising, preparing for, and conducting the auction, treat every client’s property as if it were our own property.
These principles are like an oath of office and must be supported and adhered to by all staff members.

ABILITY TO PROVIDE ONLINE AND ONSITE AUCTIONS
Wardlow Auctions Inc. can provide onsite as well as online, internet only auctions. Having this capability allows them to evaluate the property, buyer market, and logistical issues for each situation and recommend the auction method believed to be most effective for that particular situation.
Management and staff at Wardlow Auctions Inc. recognize that changes in lifestyles, technology, the marketplace, and the economy affect the way people do business. Therefore a business must adapt and change the way it operates if it is to properly and effectively serve its clients and customers. That is why Wardlow Auctions Inc. provides an informative and effective web site, uses Internet marketing and offers online bidding in conjunction with onsite bidding at real estate auctions.
In 2007, Wardlow Auctions Inc. began offering online-only Internet auctions of personal property and is currently one of the few auction companies in the Louisville area that regularly offers online-only Internet auctions of personal property.
Real Estate Auction Experience
From January 1998 to January 2016 Wardlow Auctions Inc. has successfully auctioned and sold approximately 375 residential, commercial, and agriculture real estate properties totaling $52 million. Through judicious screening of all auction candidates and effective marketing efforts of those properties chosen for auction, Wardlow Auctions Inc. obtained sales contracts on 90.4% of all properties auctioned. Those properties that did not sell were usually due to the seller’s establishment of minimum sale price higher than what could be attained from the potential marketplace of buyers. Furthermore, Wardlow Auctions Inc. has successfully closed 98.3% of all properties on which sales contracts were received.
Personal Property Auction Experience
From January 1998 to January 2016 Wardlow Auctions Inc. conducted 312 personal property auctions totaling $7.5 million. Types of auctions conducted included antiques and household items; vehicles including cars, boats, and motorcycles; commercial equipment including restaurant, office, industrial, woodworking and merchandising.
Typically over half of the auctions we do are to assist families with settling estates and living estates (a living estate is usually someone who is downsizing to a patio home, condo, or assisted living facility). In 2014, the primary purpose of our auctions were to: 1) settle estates, 2) assist families moving out of state, 3) assist commercial business with downsizing, 4) assist a bank with liquidating its bank owned properties, and 5) assist individuals with selling surplus real estate.
In addition to its regular auction business, Wardlow Auctions Inc. actively supports numerous charity, school, health, religious and civic organizations by assisting them with the auction portion of their fund raising events. Since the year 2000 Wardlow Auctions has assisted over 160 different organizations, conducted over 650 benefit auctions, and helped to raise over $18.8 million for these organizations.
