Job Summary:
The Auction Site Team Member plays a versatile and essential role in supporting the successful execution of estate auctions. As a key part of the onsite team, this position involves diverse responsibilities, including cataloging auction items, photographing them for presentation, and performing general labor tasks as required. Guided by directions from the Onsite Auction Manager, Auctioneer, and other management, team members are expected to adapt to varying roles and responsibilities. Effective communication is crucial, especially when navigating conflicting instructions, to ensure clarity and maintain smooth operations. This role demands flexibility, collaboration, and a proactive attitude in contributing to the team’s overall success in delivering high-quality auction experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Cataloger
- Write clear and detailed descriptions for each item, ensuring all relevant information is captured.
- Arrange items systematically and ensure they are labeled and documented correctly for easy reference.
- Input item details into electronic databases or spreadsheets, maintaining meticulous records for auction preparation.
- Work hand-in-hand with inventory specialists to ensure data accuracy and completeness in item cataloging.
- Collaborate with the Auctioneer or relevant experts to assess item values or notable characteristics.
Photographer
- Capture clear and high-quality images of auction items, highlighting unique details and features.
- Use photo editing software to adjust photographs and ensure they are ready for publication in catalogs or online listings.
- Systematically label and upload images to internal databases or online platforms according to auction schedules.
- Collaborate with catalogers to ensure images accurately represent the items and complement written descriptions.
- Ensure cameras and photography equipment are in good working condition and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.
General Laborer
- Assist in the physical setup of auction venues, including arranging furniture and preparing exhibition areas.
- Safely transport auction items to and from the site, handling heavy lifting and moving duties as required.
- Maintain a tidy auction environment, ensuring safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents.
- Provide support to catalogers, photographers, and other team members throughout the auction process.
- Work closely with supervisors and team members, communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations and resolve any onsite issues.

Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or GED minimum.
Experience
Cataloger
- Prior experience in roles involving detailed data entry, inventory management, or cataloging.
- Understanding of the auction industry and how cataloging fits into the larger auction process is advantageous.
- Previous use of inventory tracking or database systems, ensuring accurate item descriptions and record-keeping.
- Demonstrated experience in roles requiring high attention to detail and accuracy.
Photographer
- Experience in photography, particularly in product or inventory photography, to highlight items effectively.
- Hands-on experience with camera equipment and photo-editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
- A portfolio showcasing previous work in photography, with examples of product or catalog photography preferred.
- Prior roles that involved creative thinking and visual presentation of products or services.
General Laborer
- Previous roles that required physical labor, such as moving, construction, or warehouse work, demonstrating capability in handling heavy items safely.
- Experience in setting up and tearing down event venues or similar settings, ensuring readiness and safety of the environment.
- Experience working in environments that required adherence to safety practices and protocols to prevent workplace injuries.
- Background in roles that required adaptability and willingness to assist in various tasks as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of auction setups.

Working Conditions
